The “New Year, New You” mentality, is officially upon us! With that being said, many of us are looking for 2021 to be everything 2020 should have been! For many entrepreneurs that means researching and implementing new ways to bring in revenue, or challenging ourselves to be more consistent in our message or marketing strategies. Resolutions can be viewed as the 1st joke of the year. You began the year excited about your new vegan diet plans, but then you slipped up on January 7th when you ordered pizza after a long day. Now, you'll have to begin all over again on February 1st. While it can be argued that it is important to make a resolution, but it’s even more important to plan them out! As a business, your New Year Resolution can affect your livelihood, if not executed properly.

Here are 5 Steps to Building Your 2021 Marketing Strategy:

Reframe Your Mindset: Ask yourself some questions. What is the resolution? How do I see it helping my business? Why have I failed with resolutions in the past? Dive into your thought process and from there, create an in-depth detailed vision board on what you see for your business.

Choose Your Focus Goal: Look at what you’d like to see for your business this year and write down ways to get there. Once you get a feel for what resolution you’d like to focus on, ask yourself a few more questions. Is this goal realistic? Will I enjoy doing the work to get there? Will my team enjoy this goal? Be sure to set yourself up for success! A lofty goal that isn’t realistic can derail your passion, or deflate team morale.

Map Out Your Goals: Like every well-known novel, your business resolution needs to have a beginning, middle, and an end! Make sure your goal is clear and concise so that it can be understood by all involved. Once your goal is set, there must be a set date as to when to go back and make revisions, as well as, cut-off dates.

Choose Your Mini-Wins: Every goal needs mini-wins. Something to celebrate in between your starting point and your end result. These are just short-term goals framed inside your larger goal. For example, say your goal is to gain 500 more email followers in 2021. A mini-win could be that you celebrate when you hit the first 100 new followers of 2021 and maybe every 100 thereafter. Get your team excited about mini-wins too!  This will keep your motivation sustained throughout the year!

Make time to Unplug: It’s always a good idea to find pockets of time to take a break. We don’t have to hustle 24/7. Taking time for self-care allows you to recharge and come back to your project with a clear head and a fresh and more effective focus.
